Hemenway & Barnes Welcomes Emily Wagman and Jeff York
Hemenway & Barnes is pleased to announce that Emily Wagman and Jeff York have joined the firm as associates.
Emily Wagman joins Hemenway & Barnes as an associate in the Nonprofit Group. She advises tax-exempt organizations, including private foundations, public charities, and colleges on tax rules and procedures, governance, contracts, research and licensing agreements, and compliance matters.
Prior to joining Hemenway & Barnes, Emily served as a Senior Tax Manager at a ‘Big Four’ accounting firm, primarily working with high net worth clients on providing tax planning and income tax advice. She is highly experienced in regulatory compliance matters affecting higher education, health care, science and the arts. Throughout law school Emily worked as a Graduate Research Fellow with a focus on corporate law and contracts.

Jeff York joins Hemenway & Barnes as an associate in the Litigation Group. He represents clients in a broad range of disputes, including commercial, probate, land use, and appellate litigation. Jeff’s experience also includes conducting internal investigations and advising on corporate governance issues.
Before joining Hemenway & Barnes, Jeff worked as an associate at a national firm. Prior to law school, Jeff served as legislative director for the Office of State Representative Cory Atkins and as an assistant director of government affairs for the Office of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.
