Eleanor Evans to Present "Practice Fundamentals: Introduction to Tax-Exempt Organizations" at the BBA

Eleanor Evans, partner in the Nonprofit Group at Hemenway & Barnes, will co-present “Practice Fundamentals: Introduction to Tax-Exempt Organizations” at the Boston Bar Association on January 7, 2025. The program will be conducted via Zoom. Registration is required.

Event Overview

Introduction to Tax-Exempt Organizations is the first in a six-part Fundamentals Series on 501(c)(3) public charities and private foundations. The series will provide a basic overview geared toward new attorneys and attorneys new to the practice area on forming, operating and dissolving a tax-exempt organization in Massachusetts. This introductory program will examine what it means to be a nonprofit and a 501(c)(3) organization, the distinction between a public charity and a private foundation, choice of entity under state law, and key points on advising clients considering establishing a new charity.
