Rosalie Thorne McKenna Foundation

Rosalie Thorne McKenna (1918-2003) was one of the 20th century’s greatest photographers, producing iconic images of the literary elite of our times. She photographed Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Ezra Pound, Eudora Welty and many other writers and poets, including Dylan Thomas.

Hemenway & Barnes worked alongside Rollie’s lifelong friend and artistic collaborator, Daniel W. Jones, until his passing, to establish and further the goals of the Rosalie Thorne McKenna Foundation. Today her works are accessible and widely recognized. In addition, grants to the Center for Creative Photography, Connecticut Historical Society, Stonington Historical Society, and Vassar College will allow a new generation of students, artists, scholars, and community members to appreciate her work.

We are thrilled to continue to support the Foundation’s grant making and partnerships to continue her artistic and charitable legacy and supporting exhibitions, public programming, and educating the next generation of artists.
