Brad Bedingfield Named “Go To Taxation Lawyer” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly has named Hemenway & Barnes partner Brad Bedingfield a “Go To Lawyer” in Taxation. The award showcases leaders in the Massachusetts legal community who are recognized as experts in their field and have demonstrated a record of success.

Tax issues are at the core of Mr. Bedingfield’s representation of both high-net worth donors and a broad range of nonprofits. He has earned a reputation for his technical prowess and his client relationship skills providing sophisticated tax planning advice in a thoughtful and personable manner.

Mr. Bedingfield is a partner and chair of the Nonprofit Group at Hemenway & Barnes. He assists private foundations and public charities with navigating complex tax regulations and procedures, including receipt and disposition of complex charitable gifts. He also advises tax exempt organizations on corporate issues and governance, institutional advancement, tax planning, and regulatory matters.

Additionally, Mr. Bedingfield advises private clients on securing their long-term goals related to preserving and protecting their wealth and executing their philanthropic endeavors. He has been recognized each year since 2018 as a Notable Practitioner in Chamber’s High Net Worth Guide in the area of philanthropy and trusts and estates planning for US and international high net worth families.

He serves as a Fellow and member of the Board of Regents at the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and previously served in leadership roles at the Boston Bar Association and Planned Giving Group of New England. Mr. Bedingfield is also active in the community serving on boards and committees at the Cambridge Community Foundation, the North Bennet Street School, and the Hahnemann Hospital Foundation.

Mr. Bedingfield has 20 years of experience in private practice with national firms and also previously worked as a tax law specialist with the Exempt Organizations Division of the IRS in Washington, D.C.
