Lyndon Paul Lorusso Charitable Foundation of 2002

The Lyndon Paul Lorusso Charitable Foundation of 2002 was established to celebrate the life and perpetuate the memory of Lyndon Paul Lorusso through grants to charitable organizations that reflect his spirit and values and those of his parents Paul and Lila Lorusso. Those values include civic responsibility, personal and corporate integrity, honesty, fairness, and service to those in need.

Funding Guidelines

The Foundation makes grants to support organizations and communities on Cape Cod. The Foundation will give preference to organizations located on Cape Cod, but will also consider off-Cape organizations that provide direct services to Cape Cod communities.

The Foundation’s interests include:

  • health care service delivery
  • educational opportunities, including scholarships for students pursuing higher or continuing education
  • programs supporting youth and in particular, economically disadvantaged youth and youth with physical or developmental disabilities
  • hunger relief
  • programs in support of Veterans
  • animal welfare

The Foundation will consider program and operating grants, and capital grants as needed. Requests for challenge or matching grants are welcomed. The Foundation will not consider requests for endowments.

Grant sizes range from $5,000-$25,000. Larger grants will be considered on a case-by-case basis based on demonstrated need, compelling requests, and/or organizational capacity.

Applicants must be tax-exempt organizations qualifying under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and not a private foundation within meanings of section 509(a) of the Code. Grants to municipalities or public schools will be considered if there is a demonstrated public purpose (for example, scholarships).

Deadlines

The Trustees will meet twice per year to consider grants, in June and November. Application deadlines are as follows:

April 1 for decisions in June
September 1 for decisions in November

Please note if the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the application is due by 5pm on the following business day. The application portal will be open 4 to 6 weeks prior to the posted deadline. If a Fund has multiple deadlines, an organization may submit only once per year.
