A Personal Message from our Managing Partner

Kurt_Somerville_managing_director_webA website, even a great one, can only begin to do justice to who we are at Hemenway & Barnes.

And while we have tried to do this by telling you about our clients and what we do to help them, our website can only go so far in conveying "how" we do it, which is why so many of our clients stay, many for generations.

Here's why I think clients come to Hemenway & Barnes and stay:

  • Instead of trying to be all things to all people, we know exactly who we are and whom we serve - individuals and families of means, their business concerns, and nonprofit and charitable organizations.
  • Relationships are important to us. Our attorneys and personal advisors team with one another, and partner with their clients ensuring direct, one-to-one access. This fosters fruitful collaboration, excellent client service and strong personal relationships.
  • Clients appreciate our sound, practical advice and perspective. They've come to value our 360-degree view of their needs and goals, whether personal, business or charitable. We help them understand how change in one area can impact another and weigh their options to achieve their goals.
  • We have chosen to remain rooted in Boston and with the type and number of professionals that works best for our clients. Clients find this reassuring, knowing that we are partners for the long haul.

Clients stay with us. Once they experience the Hemenway & Barnes "personal touch" they rarely leave. This personal attention is an integral part of who we are. It is something you can't learn through a website but will quickly come to know when you become our valued client.

Thank you,

Kurt F. Somerville
